Hydropost™ Compost Mulch

Benefits

Use of Hydropost on parent material, degraded soils or harsh sites provides an environment that supports soil microbiology and sustains long term vegetative cover. Hydropost allows the establishment of native vegetation without encouraging weedy annual vegetation. Hydropost helps establish a sustainable nutrient cycling system.

Hydropost provides raindrop impact and overland water flow protection Formulated for dry or wet installation. Dry application for equipment accessible sites and Hydro-application for steep or inaccessible sites allows for cost-effective placement.

Specification

Hydropost shall be a compost product produced by the controlled biological decomposition of organic matter that has been sanitized through the generation of heat and stabilized to be beneficial to plant growth. Compost shall be derived from chipped, shredded or ground vegetation or clean processed wood products, and a Class A, exceptional quality biosolids compost, as required by US EPA, 40 CRF, part 503c regulations. The compost shall be processed to reduce weed seeds, pathogens and deleterious material and shall not contain paint, petroleum products, herbicides, fungicides or other chemical residues that would be harmful to plant or animal life. Other deleterious material such as glass, plastics, metal or rocks shall not exceed 0.1% by weight or volume, and shall be of such size as not to harm application equipment or hinder the application of these materials. A minimum of 135° internal temperature shall be maintained for at least 15 consecutive days during the composting process. The compost shall be thoroughly turned a minimum of five times during the composting process, and shall go through a minimum 90 days curing period after the 15 day thermophilic compost process has been completed.

Hydropost shall be screened through a minimum 1/4 inch screen. The moisture content shall not exceed 35%.

Application per Acre

Hydroseed

1-Step Method
Apply seed, 500 lb. fiber, 1500 lb. Hydropost, water and tackifier as needed.

2-Step Method

  • Step 1
    Apply Seed, 450 lb.
    Hydropost, 150 lb. fiber.
  • Step 2
    Apply 1050 lb.
Hydropost, 350 lb. fiber, tackifier, fertilizer and water as required.
2-Step method puts seed in contact with soil and protects it from predators. Higher rates of
Hydropost can be used for additional nutrient or mulch. Use 3 parts Hydropost to 1 part wood or cellulose fiber.

Drilled Seed
Hydropost
can be spread and incorporated as a soil amendment on the seed bed, spread immediately prior to drilling seed, or applied as tackifier to control wind erosion, or with tacked straw, as specified above.

Hydropost Soil Amendment
Incorporated into six inches of soil per 1000 square feet:

1/4 inch = 2% organic matter (low) ............ 0.75 cubic yard
1/2 inch = 4% organic matter (medium) ......... 1.50 cubic yard
1 inch = 8% organic matter (excellent) ...... 3.00 cubic yard

Hydropost Plant Hole Amendment
Approximately 25% by volume.

12" by 18" hole = 0.25 cubic feet
18" by 24" hole = 1.00 cubic feet
18" by 36" hole = 1.30 cubic feet

Hydropost Plant Basin Amendment
One inch depth.

24" basin = 0.25 cubic feet
36" basin = 0.50 cubic feet
48" basin = 1.00 cubic feet
