A Matter of Time. One
clear advantage of sod is the convenience of having instant turf. This may be
important for certain commercial applications when deadlines are tight and the
overall expense can be justified.
Small Back Yards. For a
homeowner seeking a quick solution in a small area, sod may be right. In areas
of up to 300 square feet, sod is acceptable. The homeowner must still prepare
the soil if the sod is to take root and thrive.
Erosion Control. Sod can
provide a temporary "roof" for an erosion-prone embankment, protecting
it from the direct impact of rain.
A special erosion control need is in
swales and channels which are subject to constant or nearly constant water flow.
Albright recommends Living Channel Liner. Tough
riparian grasses are grown into a geotextile erosion control mat and pinned
securely to the soil along the channel. Bring your questions to Albright.
